2020 Membership Drive and Angel Tree Donation

Happy November. As we know, November 9-13, 2020, is National School Psychology Week, which is to celebrate and highlight the important work we do. It is also during this month, we will begin our OCASP membership drive. Due to potential complications of COVID-19, the OCASP Board has graciously voted to suspend membership dues this year, which will allow any OCPS School Psychologist to join for free. All we are asking is for you to contact your area representative and indicate that you would like to join and provide a personal email address.

The focus of OCASP this year will be on the continued efforts of Embracing Diversity. As President of OCASP, I have reached out to the National Diversity Council/Florida Diversity Council and have asked to partner with them regarding diversity initiatives in our area. We are looking to join with them during their chapter meetings and to also participate in future events, which are all virtual at this time. In an effort to modernize, we have created a forum (https://flocasp.forumotion.com) which will house OCASP information and event information. OCASP is also looking to collect dues electronically for the future.
Our first test regarding collecting electronic monies will be through an OCASP Angel Tree Donation this year. We would like to collect $600 dollars by way of a $10 donation per member to be distributed evenly among 6 schools (one in each learning community and one charter) do be decided by each learning community by majority vote. Any overage will be donated to another Angel Tree as decided by OCASP Board. Monies will be collected by President Elliott Choi primarily through CASH APP. (CASH APP ID $ElliottChoi [note that my name is spelled as Elliott] or search by telephone #859-248-1853). Donations will also be accepted by area representatives as well.
We would love for all OCSP School Psychologists to join us this coming year. School Psychologists are truly a light in the darkness. May we continue to shine brightly as lights upon the hill so that all may see.
